The Sawdust Hotel Race Team (Sawdust Racing) is up and running, a Datsun 1200 coupe engineered race shell has been purchased and is currently under construction. A step by step photo journal of the build will be posted here so you can stay up to date with the project.

The car will be raced by Greg Brogan in the 2009 NSW Hillclimb Championships

The current specifications for the Datsun, which will change dramatically I'm sure during the build are:

  • 302 Windsor with eight throttle bodies
  • 5 speed
  • VL Turbo Borg Warner Diff
  • 15 x 8 Bathust Globes
  • 4 bar rear end with Watts linkage
  • Adjustable F3000 rear coil overs
  • VL turbo discs with 4 pot Jag calipers
  • Fibreglass, boot, bonnet, flared front & rear guards, bumpers and grille.
  • Alloy radiator, oil cooler.
  • Braced adjustable rear turrets, strengthened and linked one piece chassis with flat floor and broadened transmission tunnel
  • Adjustable front struts with Koni inserts, braced and turreted front suspension
  • Fully braced and linked roll cage with cross intrusion bars..
  • Set back firewall.
  • Alloy dry sump tank
